The imp app uses the Greenlist to screen incoming calls to know which calls to allow through to your phone. It starts by accessing your cell phone contacts to begin building your lists. There are several ways to add contacts to your imp box, but please note that there is no way to type numbers into the app.
The easiest way to add new contacts is by adding them to your cell phone contact list. The imp will sync up automatically with changes in your cell phone within 24 hours, but typically faster. (Pro-tip: you can force it to sync up by logging out and logging back in if you do not want to wait.)
Where that contact goes depends on your settings, which you can check by going to the devices or lists tab in the imp app, selecting Greenlist Rules, and looking at the line “Add all contacts Automatically.”
- If you have this setting enabled, all contacts from your smartphone will go onto the imp box Greenlist.
- If you have this setting disabled, all contacts from your smartphone will go onto the imp Greylist.
Another way to Greenlist: when an unknown call comes to your landline, the imp will silently handle it and send you a notification in the imp app. You can tap the notification on the imp app home page, which will open a pop-up window with more information. At the bottom of the pop-up, you are given the option to change the list assignment. Tap Greenlist to allow the phone to ring for this caller on their next attempt. Tap Redlist to have the imp hang up on them and prevent them from leaving a message.
The last way to add numbers to the Greenlist is by calling them from your landline. For this to work, you need to have it enabled. Go to the Devices tab on the imp app and select Greenlist Rules. On the next page, check the box where it says “Greenlist numbers dialed from this landline.” Now, the imp will remember the numbers you dial outbound from your landline.
